The Children's Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc. (CHVB) is a significant resource in the Baptist community. It is one of the largest of its type in terms of land available on which the potential lies to develop a myriad of Christian ministries.

Statistical reports reveal that children and families across the state are in trouble on many fronts! The categories of need include to greatly reduce teen pregnancy, high poverty rates, high drop-out rates (especially for black males), undiagnosed, untreated and unaddressed mental health and emotional issues, loss of hope in a future, the struggles of parenting (especially for single parents with limited financial and emotional support) and unemployment.

In response, The Children’s Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc. (CHVB) is committed to offering an array of relevant service ministries such as spiritual growth & development conferences/retreats, parenting classes, After-school and Summer Camp programs, providing goal orented and supervised work experience opportunities.

Our newest effort – Transitional Housing - for young adults (18-22) aging out of Foster Care. Such a program mix is dictated by the growing need, the changing trends in delivering child welfare services in the 21st Century, the effectiveness of wrap-around services and shrinking funding from the state.

As a religious organization with a long history of “saving children”, The Children’s Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc. is available and willing to continue that legacy. Hence, the two parent bodies – The Baptist General Convention of Virginia and The Virginia Baptist State Convention and their member churches fully support the Home’s mission and re-direction. An active Board of Trustees provides governance and an Administrator oversees the daily operations.

Mission

The mission of the Children's Home of Virginia Baptist Inc. (CHVB) is to serve God through family, children and youth service ministries that strengthen families and improve the quality of life.

Vision

A planned state of the art community is envisioned. A variety of ministries such as emergency care, transitional living, family support services, religious education, education/vocational training, job placement, individual/team sports and senior housing are being considered.

Consistent with the mission, CHVB will continue to focus on excellence and relevance in service delivery. The ministries are particularly intended to target special needs, at risk-children, sibling groups, families, and communities. A holistic approach to service delivery will guide each ministry's outreach to persons in need. Services are provided without regard to race, creed, national origin or religion.
